Kat met us at the door and straight away took us to the dining table where we were served afternoon tea of yummy home made scones with cream and local jam. The table has a great view of the surrounding countryside. We were then shown to our rooms where every comfort was catered for. The rooms are all named after famous Australian poets and we were in the Henry Lawson. After a great nights sleep in the very comfy bed we came out to an amazing breakfast of bacon, eggs, mushrooms and home made bread followed by pancakes – won’t have to eat for a week. We found Kat to be very knowledgeable about Tenterfield and we were also supplied with maps and brochures for our entertainment. We will definitely be back.

When you’re on your next road trip, give yourself a treat and factor in a stay in Tenterfield which is a federation town set amongst the beautiful countryside. It’s only a short drive to Stanthorpe and the wineries region of the Granite belt but the real jewel in the crown is Carpe Diem Guesthouse and Cottage. There you are offered real old fashioned hospitality but with no modern comfort overlooked.
From the moment we stepped through the door on arrival Kat treated us with culinary delights in the form of freshly baked scones with jam and cream in a truly cosy setting in front of a fire. Following a very comfortable night spent in our luxurious suite complete with a claw-footed bathtub and fluffy towels, we were greeted with a scrumptious breakfast of bacon, eggs, tomatoes and mushrooms and if you still had a room there were pancakes with maple syrup and a stunning fruit platter. Now we have an excellent reason to plan our trips around this enchanting destination.

Arrived and presented with fresh scones just out of the oven. Hostess was very welcoming. Rooms were tastefully decorated with large bathrooms. Plenty of space to relax with an ambience of peace and calm. A short drive to town makes it an ideal base for all the attractions around Tenterfield.
We recently spent some time wandering around Tenterfield and found a great place to stay on the outskirts of town, Carpe Diem Guesthouse. It has only recently opened. We had a very comfortable suite including a spacious bathroom. I slept like a log in a really comfortable bed. It can get rather chilly on the Granite Belt even in summer so the electric blankets on the beds were welcome as was the lovely fire burning when we arrived. The food is good too, nice tea with scones when you arrive and a good country breakfast in the morning.

Kathryn’s place is awesome. The new house, surrounded by green fields is sparkling clean and everything is brand new full of thoughtful details. We were impressed by the modern design and it is easy noticeable that Kathryn thought of all the details. We enjoyed the proximity to nature, sunrises and sunsets, silence and night sky full of stars. Tenterfield is a very nice town with cafes and shops. Our children went to the cinema. Kathryn gave us many useful recommendations how to explore the surrounding area. This was one of our best family trips. Thank you very much Kathryn!

Fabulous Cottage in a beautiful open space, just a short drive away from Bald Rock and the national parks in the area, as well as the town centre. The place is brand new, sparkling clean and full of special attention. It’s also a great spot to watch the sunset. Kathryn was a great host, warm and welcoming who made sure we made the best out of our trip.
